GEM New Energy Materials Research Institute was established in October 2016, which is dedicated to the development of high-end digital cathode materials, directional cycle vehicle power battery cathode materials and new generation of super technologies. The Institute has advanced material research and development laboratory, pilot test laboratory and full battery room. It has been certified by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment and recognized by China Metrology Accreditation of Jiangsu Province as an inspection and testing institution. The Institute has introduced more than 100 sets of advanced equipment such as scanning electron microscope, x-ray diffractometer, inductively coupled plasma spectrometer, atmosphere roller hearth kiln, electrochemical workstation, etc. The Institute actively carries out industry-university-research cooperation with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and jointly establishes the university-enterprise postgraduate workstation and laboratory in Jiangsu Province.

Through technological innovation and improvement, the Institute has achieved a large number of scientific research achievements with advanced level in the industry. Among them, the single crystal and high-nickel ternary products developed independently have been the core patent. The Institute has obtained 103 intellectual property rights, ranking the second in the same industry in China, and participated in the formulation of 2 national standards. The Institute has successively undertaken the Wuxi Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation Project, the Wuxi Innovative Leading Team Project, and the Wuxi Industrial Foresight and Key Technology Project; and has successfully obtained the recognition of three provincial-level R&D platforms: Jiangsu Enterprise Technology Center, Jiangsu Engineering Technology Research Center and Jiangsu Engineering Research Center, as well as National Specialized and Sophisticated "Little Giant" Enterprise.
