GEM Successfully hosted the Responsible Management Annual Conference for Critical Mineral Supply Chains, jointly promoting the sustainable development of the new energy industry.

From April 17th to 19th, 2024, the Responsible Management Annual Conference for Critical Mineral Supply Chains, organized by the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters (CCCMC) and hosted by GEM, took place in Jingmen, Hubei Province, China. This event also served as the RCI (Responsible Minerals Initiative) General Assembly meeting.The conference brought together leaders from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters, as well as representatives from numerous leading companies in the new energy industry such as Tsingshan Holdings , China Rare Earth Resources And Technology, CATL, BYD, Ronbay New Energy Technology, Easpring Material Technology , Tianqi Lithium, CNGR, and Huayou Cobalt. Over a hundred delegates gathered in Jingmen to jointly explore the challenges and future prospects of responsible supply chains for critical minerals.

The conference covered a wide range of topics, including the current status and trends of policies and regulations for responsible management of supply chains in the new energy mineral sector, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) risks and standardized governance in the mining industry, the "Ten Major Trends in International Responsible Management of Mineral Supply Chains in 2024" report, the establishment of a robust supply chain system for critical minerals, biodiversity, and the future of dual carbon, among other issues. Representatives from participating enterprises engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on these relevant topics, offering insights and strategies to collectively promote the sustainable development of the new energy industry.

During the conference, leaders from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters, along with representatives from participating enterprises, visited the GEM Jingmen Park. They deeply experienced GEM's unique green circular culture and gained insights into the full process production line from waste recycling to material manufacturing. Particularly during the visit to the "GEM International Training Center," the attendees highly praised GEM's efforts in cultural integration between China and Indonesia. They believed that this work not only contributes to the present but also holds profound significance for promoting cultural exchange and cooperation internationally, setting a model for such endeavors.

On the afternoon of April 19th, a corporate exchange meeting themed "Beautiful Chain, Embracing GEM: Sharing Experiences in Responsible Management of Critical Mineral Supply Chains" was held at the GEM Jingmen Park. During the meeting, GEM shared insights with attending corporate representatives on the company's green and circular industry chain, achievements in ESG initiatives in overseas markets, and practices in responsible supply chain management. The attending corporate representatives resonated greatly with GEM's industrial philosophy of "Limited Resources, Unlimited Recycling" and its commitment to circular industries and technological innovation.

The successful organization of this RCI annual meeting fully demonstrates GEM's strong commitment to actively participating in the responsible development of critical mineral supply chains and promoting the vigorous development of China's new energy industry.
