On November 16, 2023, the First Conference on Sustainable Development of Listed Companies in China (hereinafter referred to as the "conference"), organized by the China Association for Public Company (CAPCO), was held in Beijing. The conference released the list of "ESG Best Practice Cases of Listed Companies in 2023", in which GEM was successfully selected, and GEM was compiled into the "ESG Best Practice Cases of Listed Companies in China 2023", along with other award-winning companies such as China Mobile, Alibaba, CATL, State Grid Yingda, Mengniu, and other prominent companies.

In order to fully demonstrate the outstanding ESG practices and characteristics of listed companies, guide other companies to compare and learn from each other, and promote the enhancement of sustainable development value of listed companies, CAPCO organized the collection and compilation of ESG application cases of listed companies in 2023, and collected a total of 451 ESG application cases of listed companies, focusing on the four dimensions of environment, society, governance, and comprehensive ESG practices, and 13 topics such as carbon emission reduction, pollution emission and waste reduction, energy and resource utilization. Finally, 120 ESG best practice cases of listed companies and 325 excellent practice cases were selected, and based on this, the "ESG Best Practice Cases of Listed Companies in China 2023" was compiled and officially released at the conference.

GEM has been selected as one of the "ESG Best Practice Case of Listed Companies in 2023" with the excellent practice case of "Closed Loop Power Battery Life Cycle Value Chain - GEM Power Battery Recycling and Household Utilization", which falls under the topic of "Reducing Pollution and Waste Emission" in the environmental dimension.

GEM has been working to address the problems of the retired power battery recycling industry, through basic theoretical research, technological equipment breakthroughs, engineering implementation, industrial application to achieve efficient and intelligent disassembly, cascade utilization and green recycling of retired power batteries, to create a new energy full life cycle value chain of "power battery recycling - raw material remanufacturing - material remanufacturing - battery pack remanufacturing - reuse - cascade utilization". By 2022, GEM's power battery recycling and cascade utilisation business achieved operating revenue of RMB 622 million, a significant year-on-year increase of 312.60%; the recycled and dismantled power batteries reached 17,433 tons (2.10GWh), a year-on-year increase of 98.11%, accounting for more than 10% of the total scrapped power batteries in China. The company's power battery cascade utilization products have entered the stage of large-scale marketization and commercialization.

In addition, GEM has successively established a directional recycling model from the green scrap end to the green product end with Sunward Intelligent, Ruipu Lanjun Energy, Lantu Automobile, Mercedes-Benz China and CATL, and jointly create a battery passport to achieve sustainable development and help China and the world's new energy industry to develop in an environmentally friendly, low-carbon and standardized way.

In the future, GEM will continue to spread awareness of the ESG experience of Chinese listed companies through ESG best practice cases, give full play to the demonstration of best practices, contribute to society with sustainable development, and make ESG management an important strategic support for leading enterprise reform, innovation, transformation and upgrading, and enhance the sustainable development capabilities of enterprises themselves, so as to build a solid foundation for sustainable development.
