On August 15, 2023, Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), one of the world's largest index companies and the largest independent index company, released its latest ESG rating, in which GEM ranked first in the global industry for Clean Technology Opportunity Score.

MSCI ESG rating focuses on 37 key ESG issues, including pollution and emissions, human capital, data security, business ethics, and more. The Clean Technology Opportunity category in MSCI ESG includes alternative energy, energy efficiency, pollution prevention and control, sustainable water resources, and green buildings.

As the most widely used investment target by global portfolio managers, MSCI indexes' ESG ratings have become an important basis for investment decisions of major investment institutions worldwide. For listed companies, a higher ESG rating is a passport to be included in MSCI ESG themed indexes. Higher ESG ratings reflect the value of sound operation and regulatory governance of listed companies, which are recognized to lead to better long-term economic returns.
