Recently, upon review and accreditation, the National Development and Reform Commission has released the 30th list of proposed national enterprise technology centers in 2023. GEM (Jiangsu) Cobalt Industry Co., Ltd. (GEM Taixing Park), a subsidiary of GEM, was accredited as branch of national enterprise technology center, which belongs to the branch of the national enterprise technology center of GEM Jingmen Park. As the third national innovation platform of GEM, the new technology center shows GEM's strong determination to pursue innovation-driven development, and creates infinite possibilities for the future of GEM.

The national enterprise technology center is an integral part of China's innovation system, one of the highest-level and most influential technology innovation platforms in China, as well as a symbol of an enterprise's leading technical strength in the industry.

In 2022, GEM implemented the plan to redouble its innovation facilities. In this context, the technology center of GEM Taixing Park built a new product R&D center, an engineering test center, and a high-standard analysis and test center, with a total area of more than 5,000 square meters. With cobalt products as the core, the center researches on materials for high-end energy storage devices and their raw materials. With the goal of creating a green, low-carbon and recyclable model for the manufacture of lithium battery materials and their precursors, and the utilization of scrap cobalt resources, the center has achieved core technical breakthroughs in the R&D of materials for energy storage batteries and materials for power batteries, which will meet the robust demand for the development of the new energy industry.

GEM will rely on its national enterprise technology centers, pursue innovation-driven and quality-oriented development, redouble innovation results on the basis of redoubling innovation facilities in 2022, organize innovation competitions for its research institutes, shorten innovation cycle, and enhance the leading role of innovation research on core business in the industry, so as to secure its overall lead in the industry. In the field of new energy materials, guided by the "3+2" development strategy, GEM is consolidating the global lead of its three core business sectors: raw materials, precursors and cobaltosic oxide, and speeding up the development of its two emerging business sectors: sodium-ion materials and solid state lithium-ion cathode materials. With a focus on the new energy vehicle market and other emerging markets, GEM is continuously increasing R&D investment, to build R&D platforms with greater international influence and develop high-tech products with stronger core competitiveness, thus leading the industry in both core business and emerging business, boosting China's new energy revolution, and helping China achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
