At 4:48 p.m. on October 13, 2022, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between PT.QMB New Energy Materials (QMB) and Morimatsu (China) Group (Morimatsu) was held at the international conference hall of QMB. Xue Jiangying, President of Morimatsu; and Prof. Xu Kaihua, Board Chairman of GEM and QMB attended the signing ceremony.

The ceremony began with the inauguration of the QMB & Morimatsu High Voltage Engineering Experimental Joint Research Center by Prof. Xu Kaihua and Mr. Xue Jiangying. The establishment of the center marks the start of the strong cooperation between GEM and Morimatsu in process technology and equipment technology. The two sides will deepen research and share research findings to build it into a world-class joint research center for high voltage engineering experiments.

At the ceremony, Chairman Xu Kaihua presented the "Merit of Excellence Award" to Morimatsu in recognition of its outstanding contributions to the completion of QMB Project Phase I, and granted his personal inscription to Morimatsu's two excellent workers stationed at the site of QMB Project, praising and thanking them for going abroad to support the project.

Then Chairman Xu Kaihua and President Xue Jiangying delivered speeches on the strategic cooperation. Both sides highly recognized the joint efforts to overcome the challenge of the global spread of COVID-19 and break the malicious blockade of global suppliers to promote the fruitful cooperation in and successful operation of the high pressure module in QMB Project Phase I, which is an outcome of world-class cooperation! The two sides will leverage world leading high pressure technologies to realize the digital design, digital manufacture and digital operation of the high pressure module in QMB Project Phase II, and promote the building of QMB Project into a world top high-tech, intelligent and green nickel laterite nickel ore hydrometallurgy plant.

As a pioneer in pressure vessel manufacturing, as well as a practitioner and promoter of modular construction, Morimatsu has been committed to the R&D of vessels and modules.

Initiated by three Chinese enterprises - Tsingshan, GEM and Brunp, with the participation of Japan's Hanwa and South Korea's ECOPRO, QMB is a joint venture of world leading new energy companies. Inspired by the design concept of "technology + intelligence + green", QMB has created a low-carbon industrial model of producing new energy materials from low-grade laterite nickel ores, and delivered an all-round new energy solution for global low-grade laterite nickel ores.

The successful signing of this agreement marks another milestone in the construction of QMB Project and the official launch of QMB Project Phase II, sounding the bugle of GEM to defend global nickel resources. From now on, QMB Project Phase II will kick off and forge ahead into a bright future.
