On October 14th, the opening ceremony ofthe Master Program in Metallurgical Engineering for Indonesia students, jointlyfunded by GEM Co., Ltd、Central South University and Coordinating Ministry for MaritimeAffairs of Indonesia was held in the science and education building of CentralSouth University. Professor Satryo, Senior adviser to the minister ofCoordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs of Indonesia，ProfessorChen Chunyang、Guo Xueyi, Vice-president of Central South University, Dr. ZhangYuping，Deputy General Manager of GEM attended the ceremony. The ceremonywas also attended by the Graduate School of Central South University, theinternational cooperation and exchange office, the faculty and students of theschool of metallurgy and environment, and 21 freshmen with master\'s degree inmetallurgical engineering from Indonesia.

Vice-president Chen delivered a speech atthe ceremony, expressing his gratitude for GEM’s generous support and goodcooperation of Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs of Indonesia, andsend messages to 21 freshmen who have achieved what they have learned, becomeoutstanding backbones in the field of Metallurgical Engineering in Indonesia,and become friendly ambassadors for China and Indonesia exchanges.

Vice-president Guo affirmed the futuredevelopment potential and good employment prospect of metallurgy major,encouraged students to study hard and contributed their strength to thedevelopment of metallurgical industry in Indonesia.

Professor Satryo spoke highly of thetripartite cooperation in the training of the Master in MetallurgicalEngineering for Indonesia students and expressed his heartfelt thanks to theCentral South University and GEM. He encouraged students to cherish thislearning opportunity, learn in order to practice in the field of metallurgicalengineering in Indonesia.

Deputy General Manager Dr. Zhang Yupingfully affirmed this cooperation and promised that GEM would provideprofessional internship platform to effectively improve students\' practicalskills.

Finally, the freshman He Li delivered aspeech on behalf of all 21 students in fluently in Chinese and English. He saidthat his deep-rooted dream was coming to Central South University to study andthanked three sides for helping him to make the dream come true. He said hewill cherish this opportunity to learn, "success in learning and progressevery day," upgrade Indonesian metallurgical technology, and promotefriendly exchanges between China and Indonesia.

GEM is investing in the "nickelresource project" in Indonesia. Adhering to the concept of developing withIndonesian personnel, and actively holding hands with Central South University,and jointly supporting and cultivating metallurgical and mining engineering andtechnical personnel for Indonesia with Coordinating Ministry for MaritimeAffairs of Indonesia. 21 Indonesian freshmen in Metallurgical Engineering willstudy for a period of three years at Central South University. This cooperationhas created a new mode for enterprise, university and foreign government tocooperate in the training of talents in the field of metallurgy. It willstrengthen the cooperation and exchange of metallurgical engineering technologybetween China and Indonesia, gradually realize the localization of Indonesianmetallurgical engineering and technical personnel, and provide advanced talentsupport for the development and utilization of Indonesia\'s rich mineralresources. It highlights the positive response of Chinese enterprises andChinese universities to the strategy of "The Belt and RoadInitiative" of the Chinese government and "marine power" of theIndonesian government.

In the future, GEM will also actively playthe role of enterprise as the main body, play the role of national engineeringtechnology research platform, introduce the global advanced material technologyand green concept of circular development into Indonesia, accelerateinternational circular economic cooperation and people to people and culturalexchanges, boost the economic and social development of Indonesia, and growtogether with Indonesia.
