On November 9th 2012, the launch of the waste commodity recycling campaign and energy conservation and environmental protection of circulation field "hundred cities thousand shops" demonstration project in Guangzhou was held by the Ministry of Commerce. Nearly 200 people from relevant departments, associations and enterprises attended the launching ceremony. Vice minister of Ministry of Commerce Mr. Zengwei Jiang, Director of MOC Circulation Development Mrs. Xin Xiang, deputy director of Development and Reform Commission Mr. Ji Xie, deputy director of Ministry of Education Mr. Bihai Wang, deputy director of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Mr. Tiesheng Yang and etc., attended and addressed the launching ceremony. The chief executive of GEM Prof. Kaihua Xu gave a speech of "Independent Innovation, Construct Advanced Technology to Support the Waste Goods Recycling Industry".
    Prof. Kaihua Xu said: GEM will rely on independent innovation, to construct the advanced technology to support the renewable resources recovery system, recycling demonstration base, technology research and development, circular economy demonstration and education base, and to change China’s utilization of resources and to become the pioneer enterprise of transformation China"s economic growth mode.
