GEM sets up national standards concerning used batteries

On 21st, Nov., National Mental Standards Seminar, hosted by National Committee for Standardization of non-ferrous Metals, and organized by Shenzhen GEM Hi-tech Co., Ltd, was held in Shenzhen Haijing Hotel.Kuang Bing, vice director of Shenzhen Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, attended the seminar and delivered a speech. Fan Shunke, president of National Academy of Non-ferrous Metals Technical Economy, and Xu Kaihua, board chairman of GEM, addressed the conference. More than 150 people from the press and enterprises in non-ferrous metal industry took part in the conference. Specialists have discussed on the following 3 national standards:[Primary Battery Sorting],[Rechargeable Battery Sorting] and [Regulations for the Storage and Transportation of Used Batteries], which are hosted by TC243.

Mr Kuang greatly affirmed GEM’s achievements in e-waste recycling standardization. The setting of the above standards is significant to the construction of an environment friendly society. Mr Kuang stressed that recycling economy standardization is an important part of the standardization strategy of Shenzhen, which should be guided and supported. Mr Fan introduced the current development and standardization of non-ferrous metal industry. He said that GEM was the first example to set battery waste standards in China, which is a beneficiary exploration in waste recycling standardization.

GEM has always treated the standardization as a significant and strategic project. So far, GEM has set up more than 20 standards in recycling industry.
