On the morning of January 11, 2019, the foundation-laying ceremony of QMB New Energy Materials Co., Ltd jointly invested and operated by GEM Co., Ltd, Tsingshan Industries, BRUNP Recycling, IMIP and HANWA Co., Ltd was held grandly in China-Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone Tsingshan Park located at Morowali, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, leaders including Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Minister of Indonesia Maritime Coordination Department,  Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of the Ministry of Industry, Longki Djanggola, Governor of Central Sulawesi and County Head Tassili of Morowali of Indonesian part and Xiang Guangda, Chairman of the Board of Tsingshan Industries, Xu Kaihua, Chairman of the Board of GEM Co., Ltd, Pan Jian, Vice Chairman of the Board of CATL, Li Changdong, Chairman of the Board of Guangdong Brunp Recycling Technology Co., Ltd, Huang Weifeng, Chairman of the Board of IMIP, Zheng Zhongyue, Executive Director and President of IMIP, Guchuan Hongcheng, President of HANWA Co., Ltd attended the ceremony.

According to the Joint Venture Agreement on Construction of Indonesian Lateritic Nickel Ore for Production of Battery-grade Nickel Chemical Product (nickel sulfate crystal) (50,000 tons of nickel/year) in Indonesia signed by the parties on September 28, 2018, USD700 million will be invested jointly to build a hydrometallurgical base with an output capacity of not less than 50,000 tons of nickle metal and 4,000 tons of cobalt metal, with an output of 50,000 tons of nickel hydroxide intermediate, 150,000 tons of battery-grade nickel sulfate crystal, 20,000 tons of battery-grade cobalt sulfate and 30,000 tons of battery-grade manganese sulfate crystal.

In this project, battery-grade nickel and cobalt raw materials, which are key raw materials for making ternary power battery, will be refined from lateritic nickel ore. Environment friendliness, high technology and smart manufacturing will be reflected perfectly in the whole manufacturing process, and a global model of producing new energy materials directly from lateritic nickel ore will be created, thus an innovative upgrade of Indonesia\'s nickle resources is expecting in new energy resource industry.

Luhut Binsar Panjaitan pointed out in his speech, "It\'s great that many pioneers invest here, we hope local governments support the construction of entrepreneurs here, and they can provide good services. I hope to build this factory into a hi-tech one and promote local employment and economy", and Airlangga Hartarto pointed out in his speech, "It will be one of the milestones in the industrial development of Indonesia. I hope IMIP Park will play a strategic role consistently as ever and build into a state-level industrial park together with the country in global scope, and build the factory into a forerunner of electric vehicles".   

Mr. Xu Kaihua showed in his speech that the warm welcome of Indonesian government and people was very impressive, and it\'s a correct choice in his life to invest in Indonesia. He emphasized that the design concept of "Green + Ecology" will be followed for the project, and 360-degree green design and clean production will be implemented, and environment friendliness and high technology will be reflected in the whole process of the project perfectly. This is a cooperation of global industrial giants of new energy materials by the "Belt and Road Initiative". A brand new energy battery raw material base will rise in Indonesia, and a global layout for whole industrial chain of new energy materials from lateritic nickel ore to ternary power battery has taken its initial shape.

The times produce their heroes. When resource, technology and market are combined, a great chemical change will surely take place.

A whole industrial chain of new nickle resource new energy materials shocking the whole world has been emerging in Indonesia, and "Made in Indonesia" with vitality will have a far-reaching influence on the world\'s new energy industry.
