Nickel-Cobalt-Tungsten Waste Recycling and New Materials Research Institute

Nickel-cobalt-tungsten waste recycling and new materials research institute was established in GEM(Jingmen) Urban Mineral Recycling Industry Park in October 2008. It is the core R&D platform for GEM Corporation to implement its innovation strategy and is responsible for the development of new products, new technologies and new processes and the industrialized technologies transfer for the core business of the corp. It takes the responsibility of rapid breakthroughs in key technologies, acceleration of the technology industrialization, and promoting the effective implementation of the Corp’s "urban minerals + new energy materials" core strategy, providing key technical support for the Corp to build a global green industry leader.

The Institute has set up three research centers, which are responsible for the technical breakthroughs in complex low-grade cobalt-nickel raw material resource utilization, high nickel precursors, and cobalt-nickel powder (including cobalt oxide materials), respectively. With advanced equipment, the research institute has realized the seamless connection from lab trial, pilot test to industrialization scale for product and technology development. The R&D team has 5 leading talents, more than 10 doctoral researchers and a number of foreign technical consultants from Japan and South Korea. We actively carry out industry-university-research cooperation with well-known domestic universities such as Tsinghua University, Central South University, and Beijing University of Technology.
