On August 15, 2026, a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia. Sikka Regency was among the hardest-hit areas, with significant damage to homes, public facilities, and the port in its capital, Maumere, as well as reported casualties. Ongoing aftershocks, blocked roads, and shortages of food, drinking water, and daily supplies have posed enormous challenges to post-disaster rescue efforts, evacuation, and livelihood support.

The disaster is a call to action; rescue is a responsibility. Immediately after the earthquake struck, Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM, closely followed the situation and issued directives, calling on the company's overseas industrial parks to actively participate in disaster relief. The QMB Industrial Park responded swiftly, urgently assembling relief supplies and rushing to the affected areas to deliver the company's care and warmth to the Indonesian people in need.

In the face of disaster, every supply item is a form of support, and every aid delivery is a beacon of hope. The relief effort was carried out in two batches. The first batch consisted of daily necessities including 4,500 kg of rice, 645 boxes of mineral water, 840 portions of cooking oil, 200 trays of eggs, 1,140 loaves of bread, 10 boxes of soap, 9 boxes of shampoo, 5,372 packs of instant noodles, and 20 boxes of diapers. After the first delivery, the QMB Industrial Park assessed the actual needs of the on-site disaster response command center and quickly organized a second batch of aid, dispatching 10 truckloads of urgently needed supplies, including 1,000 boxes of instant noodles, 5,000 boxes of drinking water, 50 boxes of cooking oil, 62 boxes of Sun baby rice cereal, 1,000 boxes of snacks, 15 boxes of seasonings, 50 boxes of white tree oil, 23 boxes of baby gripe water, 200 boxes of sanitary products, and 200 boxes of diapers. Both batches of relief supplies have been donated to the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and officially received, with a total value of approximately IDR 2,000,000,000 (equivalent to about RMB 1 million).

At the donation site, Ir. Simon Subandi Supriadi, Vice Regent of Sikka Regency, warmly received the QMB relief team. He expressed sincere gratitude to QMB for extending a helping hand immediately after the disaster and for its care for the affected communities, noting that every item delivered precisely addressed the most urgent needs of the victims. Local residents also gave positive feedback on QMB's assistance, saying that both the food supplies such as rice and instant noodles, and the infant and child products that addressed the pressing needs of young children in the disaster zone, have greatly alleviated the hardships of post-disaster life and made them feel the friendship and concern of the Chinese people.

In this rescue operation racing against time, the spirit of unity, mutual assistance, and resilience has taken on even greater significance in the face of disaster. On the occasion of Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, as the first Chinese-invested enterprise to participate in earthquake relief efforts, GEM's QMB Indonesia Park has consistently upheld the development philosophy of "sharing the same breath, the same destiny, and a connected heart" with the local community. By extending a helping hand immediately after the disaster, the company has given back to the local community through concrete actions, demonstrating the sense of responsibility of Chinese enterprises to take root in Indonesia and pursue shared development with the local people.
