On the morning of September 10, 2024, the opening ceremony for hydrometallurgy (HPAL) (1,168m³ Autoclave) production line for QMB Indonesia nickel resources phase II project was grandly held at the QMB. Over 300 representatives attended the event, including shareholder representatives of QMB, Mr. Zhang Fan, Vice President of Eternal Tsingshan Group, Mr.Yulius Susanto, Deputy Director of Operations at IMIP, Mr. Junaedi, a representative from Morowali Customs of the Indonesian government, Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM, Ms. Wang Min, Co-controller and Board Director of GEM, Mr. Lee Sunghwan, Head of EcoPro, Mr. Kurata, Managing Director of Hanwa, and representatives from enterprises within the IMIP as well as partners of QMB construction.

During the ceremony, Chairman Xu Kaihua expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Indonesian government and the IMIP for providing an excellent business environment, as well as to all shareholders and the global industrial chain for their strong support. He also extended his gratitude and respect to over 200 external construction companies and suppliers, along with the thousands of overseas employees who have shown relentless dedication and perseverance over the past 16 months. Chairman Xu noted that, through 16 months of tireless efforts and overcoming numerous challenges, the overseas team and the more than 200 external construction companies successfully completed all tasks related to the construction and commissioning of QMB nickel resources Phase II project. The entire production line is now operational, with process operation indicators and product quality reaching world-class levels, creating an excellent example of laterite nickel ore hydrometallurgy project with only 16-month construction period!

Chairman Xu Kaihua emphasized that the successful opening of this production line marks another milestone in the company’s Indonesian laterite nickel ore hydrometallurgy project. Building on the successful operation of the first phase, the company has once again utilized its independent design and technology to successfully apply the 1,168m³ HPAL autoclave in low-grade laterite nickel ore hydrometallurgy. This is the first case in the world where 1,168m³ HPAL autoclave can successfully process low-grade laterite nickel ore using hydrometallurgy technology. With an annual capacity of over 25,000 MT of nickel per autoclave, this achievement represents a significant milestone for China’s hydrometallurgy technology, and a major advancement for Indonesia and the global hydrometallurgical industry!

The successful opening of this production line not only provides strong support for the company's downstream precursor material supply but also lays a solid raw material foundation for creating Indonesia's first-ever complete new energy production line, spanning from nickel resources to precursor materials. Looking to the future, Chairman Xu Kaihua encouraged all employees and external partners of QMB to continue their hard work and create even more miracles.

Mr. Zhang Fan, representative from QMB shareholders and Vice President of Eternal Tsingshan Group, emphasized that QMB is one of the most outstanding enterprises in terms of localization within the industrial park. The company’s ability to build such a grand high-tech industrial park at an incredible speed is a first in Indonesia and globally. He expressed his deep admiration for Chairman Xu Kaihua’s entrepreneurial spirit in overcoming challenges and personally overseeing the project, as well as the perseverance and resilience shown by the QMB oversea team .
