Over the past two decades, GEM has focused on three core pillars: Recovery and Extraction of Critical Metal Resources, power battery recycling, and new energy battery materials manufacturing. We have built a premium global brand in waste recycling and established ourselves as a leader in the extraction/recycling of critical metals and the circular utilization of power lithium batteries, serving as a vital promoter of the whole life-cycle value chain for the world's new energy sector.


In the field of recovery and extraction of critical metal resources, GEM has built a circular regeneration industrial chain of "waste metal resource recycling - raw biochemical high-purityraw materials and materials - remanufactured end products", achieving high-quality recycling of more than 20 critical metal resources such as nickel, cobalt, lithium, tungsten, copper, manganese, scandium, germanium, gold, silver, platinum, etc. GEM has built the world's largest base for the recycling and utilization of key metals such as nickel, cobalt, tungsten and germanium. The annual recycled cobalt resources are more than five times China's original cobalt production, the annual recycled nickel resources account for 20% of China's original nickel production, the annual recycled tungsten resources account for 10% of China's original tungsten production, and the annual recycled germanium resources account for 18% of China's original germanium production(completed by the participating company), precisely responding to the global competition for key metal resources, enabling key metal resources to circulate mainstream supply to the national economy, greatly ensuring the safe supply of key metals in China. Recycled ultrafine tungsten powder, ultrafine cobalt powder and nickel-cobalt resources are mainly supplied to global supply chains such as Apple, Sandvik, Samsung SDI, China Minmetals and Xiamen Tungsten.

In the field of power battery recycling, GEM was the first to propose the concept of building a full life cycle value chain for new energy in 2016, and established a full life cycle value chain for new energy, namely "battery recycling - battery remaining energy secondary utilization and remanufacturing - raw material remanufacturing - material remanufacturing - battery reassembly". GEM has established cooperative relationships with over 1,100 vehicle and battery manufacturers worldwide, and formed targeted recycling partnerships for nickel, cobalt and lithium with BYD, CATL, EVE and Toyota. The remanufactured battery packs with remaining energy secondary utilization have been commercialized in enterprises such as GAC and Zoomlion, effectively promoting the implementation of global battery passports. The company has developed a series of key technologies and new equipment, including flexible disassembly of retired lithium batteries, remaining energy secondary utilization and remanufacturing, targeted lithium extraction, co-extraction of nickel, cobalt and manganese, economic recovery of low-value components, and in-situ remanufacturing of materials, solving all technical problems related to the secondary utilization and remanufacturing of remaining capacity of retired power lithium batteries, efficient recovery of nickel, cobalt and lithium, full recovery of low-value elements such as phosphorus, iron and graphite, and green treatment of pollutants such as fluorine. The lithium recovery rate is over 96.5%, the nickel and cobalt recovery rate is over 99.5%, the graphite recovery rate is over 95%, the phosphorus recovery rate is over 95%, and the iron recovery rate is over 90%. GEM's comprehensive recycling technology for power lithium batteries is at the world's leading level. GEM has built six power lithium battery recycling plants in China, covering the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Central China region. All of them are included in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's white list. GEM's power lithium battery recycling technology supports GAC Group in building a battery recycling plant, and has set up joint venture recycling plants for power lithium batteries in South Korea and Indonesia, becoming a Chinese business card for the global recycling of retired power lithium batteries. GEM serves the global recycling of power lithium batteries and the green development of new energy, providing a Chinese solution for the global recycling of power lithium batteries, and processing 10% of retired lithium batteries in China.

In the field of new energy battery material manufacturing, GEM has developed the recycling and utilization of various nickel and cobalt resources and low-grade laterite nickel and cobalt ores. By "putting in low-grade laterite nickel ores and refining battery materials", we have established a complete industrial chain of nickel and cobalt resources for new energy, covering"nickel and cobalt waste and resources - nickel and cobalt sulfate crystals - electroplated nickel and cobalt metals - precursor materials - ternary cathode materials". GEM's recycled production of ternary precursors for power batteries, ternary cathode materials, cobalt oxide for 3C digital batteries, recycled lithium carbonate and other new energy materials are mainly supplied to China's leading new energy enterprises such as CATL and BYD. GEM has built 16 waste recycling treatment plants and new energy material manufacturing plants in 11 provinces and cities in China, as well as in South Africa, South Korea, Indonesia and other places, and built an urban mine recovery and mining system centered on major cities in China. The footprint of green development radiates the world, covering more than 40% of China's land area, establishing waste treatment cooperation relationships with more than 500 million people, recycling more than 30 kinds of scarce resources such as cobalt, nickel, lithium, copper, tungsten, gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium, gallium, germanium, indium, and rare earth.     Nickel, Cobalt and Tungsten Resource Recovery Center
