GEM Cobalt Nickel Tungsten Waste Recycling and New Materials Research Institute

GEM Cobalt Nickel Tungsten Waste Recycling and New Materials Research Institute was established in GEM (Jingmen) Urban Minerals Recycling Industry Park in October 2008. As the core R&D platform of GEM Group to implement innovation strategies, it is responsible for the development of new products, technologies, and processes for core business sectors of the group, and the commercialization of industrialized technologies. It shoulders the commitment of rapidly achieving technological breakthroughs, facilitating technological commercialization, and driving the effective implementation of the “urban mines + new energy materials” strategy. So it provides key technology support for the group in the path towards becoming a world leader of the green industry. The Institute now houses three experimental centers, which are respectively responsible for making breakthroughs in the resource utilization technology of scarce resources and complex low-grade cobalt-nickel raw materials, the high-nickel precursor technology, and the cobalt-nickel powder (material containing cobalt oxide) technology. Provided with advanced equipment, the Institute has enabled the seamless development of products and technology from small-scale, pilot-scale to industry-scale tests. In the RD team, there are 5 group leaders, more than 10 researchers of doctorate, and many foreign technical consultants from Japan and South Korea. The Institute also has actively cooperation with Tsinghua University, Central South University, Beijing University of Technology, and many other well-known universities in China.
