Zhejiang Provincial Cemented Carbide High-tech Research Center, which is affiliated to Zhejiang Dewei Cemented Carbide Manufacturing Co., Ltd., was jointly constructed by the Resource Recycling Research Institute of Central South University and GEM Co., Ltd. This R&D center engages in technology research, development and industrial application of high-end cemented carbide manufacturing via cooperation among enterprises, universities, and research institutions; forms core technologies with independent intellectual property rights; comprehensively improves the development technology and equipment in the cemented carbide industry of Zhejiang and China; cultivates high-caliber research and management talents for the industry.

The R&D center controls a technology development center, a pilot test center, an analysis and testing center, a technical achievement transformation center, an industrial development department, an information management department, an administrative management department and a central office. The technology development center controls seven laboratories: the refractory metal carbide laboratory, the mixed material preparation technology laboratory, the wear-resistant parts and deep processing technology laboratory, the cutting blade and application technology laboratory, the geological mining tools and application technology laboratory, the mold design and preparation technology laboratory, and the equipment design and production technology laboratory. Meanwhile, it also owns a geological and mineral alloy simulation test center and a tool application test center that are engaged in the research on cutting-edge technologies of cemented carbide and the development of high-performance and high-value-added new products.
