February 26, 2019, the kick-off meeting of the"Product Life Cycle Identification Traceability System and Performance Evaluation Technology", which is a key special project of the national key R&D plan, was held in Peking University with success.

This project is the 13th Five-Year Plan, led by Peking University, with the participation of ten units, including GEM Co., Ltd., Beijing University of Technology, NDRC, Solid Management Center of Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China Automotive Technology Research Center, China Material Recycling Association, China Electronic Equipment Technology Development Association, Suzhou Environmental Innovation Research Institute of Tsinghua University and Shenzhen Innovation Center. GEM took the lead in undertaking the research of a major sub-project and participated in the technical research and development of multiple sub-projects, which reflects that the early technical foundation of GEM has been highly recognized.

The project kick-off meeting was hosted by the project leader and chief scientist Professor Wang Xuejun of Peking University. Leaders attending the project kick-off meeting included Ma Rong, former deputy director of the Department of Environmental Resources of the NDRC, Xiao Yaowen, deputy director of the Department of Social Development Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Zhen Gengchong, Department of Environmental Resources of Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission. The expert group for project implementation program evaluation includes Qi Jianguo, former deputy director of the Institute of Quantitative & Technological Economics, CASS, Li Huiquan, researcher of the CAS, Liu Qiang, vice president of the China National Resources Recycling Association, Yang Chunping, director of the Circular Economy Research Office of the NDRC, Xu He, professor of the Nankai University, Liang Tao, a researcher at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, and Guo Zhanqiang, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Circular Economy. The meeting agreed to hire Ma Rong, the former deputy director of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of the NDRC, as the leader of the project consulting expert group, and a list of the demonstration expert group was determined.

At the meeting, Zhang Yuping, deputy general manager of GEM Co., Ltd., made a report on the implementation plan of related sub-projects on behalf of the company. After carefully listening to the implementation plan reports of various project units, the expert group carefully appraised the implementation plan of the project, and put forward practical and feasible modification suggestions on the establishment of the project, the refinement of the research content, the implementation goal, the assessment plan and the performance evaluation. All experts agree that the projects participating in the opening argument has strong applicability, high value and feasible method.

This project is an important research subject for the implementation of the extended producer responsibility system of the State Council. Participating in the research of this national key research and development plan project not only demonstrates GEM s ability to undertake national major projects, but also helps to apply GEM’s practical development suggestions of circular industry to industrial policies. Afterwards the company will strictly follow the assessment indicators of the mission statement, earnestly implement the research and development of the project, and complete the implementation of the project with excellent results and high quality.
